Heavenly Simplicity

Okay. Now here’s the
stuff epiphanies are made of - a 17-and-a-bit metre Crowther cat,
undoubtedly awesome but elegantly understated. A no nonsense ocean
crosser whose integral honesty is evident in everything from its
design pedigree and build brilliance to professionally finished fit
out.
Built to go to New
Zealand for the 2000 Americas Cup, this Foam/Kevlar/Carbon blueblood
has more than proved itself on numerous voyages. Broker, Ian
Mackenzie was lucky enough to crew on the 400nm leg from Sydney to
the Gold Coast, “Amazing Cat!” he says summing up his 30-40 knot
passage.

Duplicity is a well
considered boat that’s big on – simplicity. Well, apart from the
affectionately termed ‘God Pod’ which is truly the pilothouse from
heaven. Here you’ll find a spread of navigational delights all
easily accessed from a deluxe helm seat … Northstar chartplotter and
Simrad ‘everything’ with dual stations in the saloon - and, of
course, to let you easily goad the ‘bejesus’ out of land locked
mates, there’s all the satellite communications gear you’ll need to
let them know exactly what they’re missing out on!

For the more cluey
friends signed on as crew, there’s a double helm position in the
‘God Pod’ - right beside the captain’s chair so they can share the
wonder of charging over oceans with a galaxy of easy to use gadgets
before them ...

Add the variables of
ice clinking in real glasses, a sumptuous barbecue sizzling and the
strains of an 10 stacker playing your favourite CD as the universe
ghosts by – and you have to have something close to heaven...

Beyond the sanctuary
of saintly electronics that is the ‘God Pod’, you have the
‘functionality’ of Duplicity. Clean lines, easy sailing and a
refreshing lack of pretence. Solid safety and function are laced
with just the right amount of sensible luxury – I mean - reverse
cycle air con everywhere, ceramic four burner stovetop with
rangehood, icemaker, a Kohler 20 kva genset, watermaker, washing
machine – how much more lavishly sensible can you get! (If only!)
Yes, here are elegant
sufficiencies aboard a vessel geared with the true blue water
adventurer in mind. Powered by dual compact Yanmar 4cyl turbo 230hp
diesels, 15 knots full speed or 10-12 cruising is standard ...
But also standard is
comfortable, down to earth, sumptuous cruising on a well bred and
impeccably capable Crowther ...
‘Affordable earthly
luxury’ - is there such a thing?
Well
here it appears to be. On Duplicity..
